How To Eat Healthy When Eating Out

  1. Look up the nutrition facts beforehand
  2. One the menu look for foods that are “grilled, baked, broiled or steamed” avoid foods that are “fried, creamy, breaded or sauteed”
  3. Split an entree and save half for later or order from the appetizer menu to cut down on portion size.
  4. Order all dressings and sauces on the side so you can check portion size before applying yourself. Be aware that many are also full of fat and/or sugar. Vinaigrettes are almost always the best choice.
  5. Get a half order of larger dishes
  6. Look for dishes that have vegetables or lean meats as the main parts
  7. Substitute salad or vegetable for fries
  8. Skip the pre meal bread.  Save your appetite for the delicious stuff!
  9. Don’t be afraid to ask for things your way. If you want something left off, then ask for it. You can also always order extra veggies.
  10. Water, Water, Water! Skip the soda and hydrate instead.
